‘Currawong Calling’ is the final of four pieces in Vaughan’s The Birds Suite for solo flute and string orchestra. Lively and deeply moving, ‘Currawong Calling’ for an intermediate level ensemble can be performed as a standalone work, or nestled among the other pieces from the suite. Flexibility of parts: The solo flute part can be played by violin (advanced) if need be. ‘Australian Raven’ can also be played as string orchestra/quartet only, functioning satisfactorily without the solo part. Also available in the suite: 1. Brown Thornbill; 2. Little Wattlebird; and 3. Australian Raven.
