Description
‘Australian Raven’ is the third of four pieces in Vaughan’s The Birds Suite for solo flute and string orchestra. Gentle and deeply expressive, ‘Australian Raven’ for an intermediate level ensemble can be performed as a standalone work, or nestled among the other pieces from the suite. Dynamic expression is dependent on the ensemble and left to the discretion of the conductor. Flexibility of parts: The solo flute part can be played by violin if need be. ‘Australian Raven’ can also be played as string orchestra only, functioning satisfactorily without the solo part. Also available in the suite: 1. Brown Thornbill; 2. Little Wattlebird; and 4. Currawong Calling.
